Life is short, we humans tend to say that a lot and while its true, I feel like sometimes we don’t really grasp the meaning of that statement in it’s entirety. If we really think about the brevity of life, and how it could be over with the next tick of the clock? I think we would live with more gusto. You could literally die at any time, with no warning whatsoever, with no time to say goodbye or to make things right, in one blink you could be gone forever and that will be the end, there’s no act two, no do over. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. I watch myself making all these plans and envisioning my future but the frightening question is this: what if I’m not even here to see it, to live it?
Hold your loved ones a little closer today. Love a lot harder, be kind, be generous, be free, be brave, be forgiving. Live your life, this short, beautiful, painful, amazing, and wonderful life that you’ve been given. If you really knew how short it was you’d realize how irrelevant fights, arguments and grudges are in the grand scheme of things. If you’ve been blessed with love, love your person with the whole of your heart. No games, no pretense. Love your friends, let them in, live. Look around you, the world as we know it is crumbling one day at time and it’s fueling me to live with my eyes wide open.
Be vulnerable, bring down your walls, allow yourself to breathe; inhale and exhale. Allow yourself to love deeply and be loved in return. Reclaim your self respect if per chance you lost it. Don’t browbeat yourself over failures, keep going and if you find yourself slipping, stop and remember that you only have so much time. Take a deep breath and live again. Wade in the waters, look for rainbows, make the most of it because you truly never know.
“It’s not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it”- Seneca The Younger
